Kökar Skärgårdsbutik is a modern store with a wide selection of food, groceries, household goods and souvenirs. During the summer, the store is open every day and is also Åland’s first hybrid store.

Kökar DiscGolfPark is a 12-hole disc golf course located on the island of Kökar in the southern Åland archipelago, next to Peders Aplagård, Finland’s southernmost apple orchard.

The boat trip takes you through Kökar’s beautiful outer archipelago. A guided walk across the island of Källskär leads to Baron Åkerhielm’s architect-designed log house and Mediterranean-inspired garden. From here you can see the horizon and the waves of the open sea crashing against the rocks.

At Kökar’s museum, you can see, learn, and experience how the people of Kökar lived in the past. The museum is housed in the former Österbygge-Hellsö school from 1913 and was opened by the Kökar Local Heritage Association in 1988.
The church site has a long and, in places, hard-to-interpret history, but it is perhaps best known as the place where one of medieval Finland’s three Franciscan convents was founded. Extensive excavations at the site, however, suggest some kind of activity as early as the 13th century. The fact that the name Kökar is mentioned in the so-called Danish Itinerary from the end of the same century shows that the area—especially Hamnö—was already a well-known harbour along important shipping routes.
